Are you looking for a calm and creative space to have your lunch and possibly create art? Students are welcome in a classroom environment where they can enjoy practising arts and crafts techniques. Students may also use this space to have lunch and enjoy each other’s company

About BEE_LSA

BEE_LSA is a constructive environment in which students and teachers can share their interest in nature. The bees and the beehive are expected to lead us toward simple actions that we can change in our daily life to protect our environment and sustain our resources. Field trips, school activities and workshops are planned.

About the Bistro

The Bistro is a space available at recess and lunch for students to hang out, play games, have snacks or lunch. The Bistro also sells snacks and drinks at affordable prices. At times, students and/or staff will bake and/or cook specialty items to sell. Student volunteers are welcomed at all times to help manage the Bistro.

About Blue and Gold Variety Show

Blue and Gold Review is a theatrical variety show written, performed and directed by students. This variety show consists of skits, dance performances, singing and band shows.

About Our Breakfast Club

LSA’s Breakfast Club invites students to enjoy breakfast with friends before the beginning of their first period classes as well as at recess time.

When: Everyday 8:35-8:55 a.m. and 11:40-11:55 a.m.

About Ceramics and Plants Club

Students will be invited to work with ceramics out of clay. In addition to this, students will learn about 2 plants per session, how to care for them, and will propagate a plant that they will get to keep and take home.

About the Good Night Project

The Good Night Project collects, washes and packs items for donation at a shelter for battered women. We donate teddy bears, books and blankies for young children, the purpose of which is to ease the arrival of the children.

Grad Committee and Mural

The Grad and Prom Committee is responsible for the creation and distribution of graduation t-shirts and the organization of the Prom dance in late June.

The committee will also begin preparing for the prom dance by selecting the venue, hiring a DJ, picking the colour scheme and theme, ordering the decorations including balloons and flowers, and organizing the tables and student sitting arrangements.

Committee meetings begin in October, at which point grad the grad T-shirt is designed and a list of T-shirt orders is made (incl. sizes). By the month of February, T-shirts will be ready to be distributed to all secondary 5 students.

When: Meetings begin in October of each school year and continue throughout the year.

About “Hellfire” RPG Club

The LSA HELLFIRE Role Playing Club provides a safe space for students to learn how to play Role-Playing Games like Dungeons and Dragons. The club is called HELLFIRE as this term has recently been popularized by the STRANGER THINGS Netflix Show.

Last Wave Radio is a platform for the amplification of students’ and educators’ voices at Laval Senior Academy situated in Laval, Québec. LWR has a studio space located in room D129 (LSA BISTRO) of the school building and is embedded in the Work Study program.

SWLSB ASCEND Leadership (ASL) is a service of SWLSB Spiritual Animators to unite and support student leadership development in schools, within our school board.

ASL is an umbrella to serve school programs by helping staff to lead initiatives that help young people develop into engaged and authentic leaders.

ASL works with schools to provide the tools, training and challenging experiences necessary to foster continuous success in the classroom and beyond as students construct healthy lives and relationships.

Agape is a non-profit, charitable organization. Their mission is to enhance the vitality of the underprivileged English-speaking and multicultural people of Laval by offering a wide variety of services that promote and improve mental and physical well-being.

Agape’s vision is that all people of Laval have access to the indispensable things in life such as food, shelter and clothing and that all people have equal opportunities with regards to education and healthcare.

About Math X-Change

Math X-Change is a place where students can come any day at lunch to get their homework done, or simply to connect with a positive community. Students can support each other by working in groups, and there are up to 3 teachers always present to offer guidance.

We also recruit strong, responsible students to help as peer tutors. The students being tutored benefit from the help, and the students doing the tutoring benefit from the experience. In addition to the benefits inherent in helping others, we also recognize the contribution made by our student tutors by awarding them gift cards to Carrefour Laval proportional to their hours of service.

In this lunchtime club, members of LSA’s Quote Club are invited to design and paint murals based on carefully chosen inspirational quotes. We beautify our school with each mural we paint!

About S.T.E.A.M. Innovation Lab

S.T.E.A.M. stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Through workshop-style sessions and projects we will explore new technologies including robotics, media creation, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, 3D modelling, 3D printing, and more. We will have guest visitors who are experts in S.T.E.A.M. fields and go on field trips to exciting conventions and exhibits. This club will be a space for students of all different interests and abilities to gain autonomy and creative problem-solving skills through exploration of technology.

About LSA’s Science Fair

«Text» – School Science Fair is where students will be prepared to present their respective science fair projects. Students who move on to regional and provincial science fairs will work on obtaining ethics approval, poster development and intense editing of their reports.

Laval Senior Academy had the pleasure of hosting the Montreal Regional Science & Technology Fair 2023.

Thanks go out to all of the organizers, teachers, support staff, maintenance, IR and PPO for putting on this incredible event 4-day that we will never forget. It would not have been possible without all the collaboration and support from the LSA community.

A huge congratulations goes out to all the high school and CEGEP students who participated in this event. We are very proud of our 5 LSA teams that worked tirelessly on their science fair projects while balancing their academics and their lives outside of school. All of the LSA teams earned prize money and podium finishes.

Several LSA students won at the 2023 Montréal Regional Science and Technology Fair and went on to win at the 2023 Provincial Science Fair (UdM) and were invited to present at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Texas.

Interested in learning about the stock market? Students of the Stock Market and Trading Club learn to trade and invest in shares of their favourite companies with a fictional trading account. We follow the market fluctuations and stories that make the market act bullish or bearish. We learn how to profit from these stories and calculate opportunity and risk.

About Taichi and Qigong

Students can practise French communication during their Taichi activity. Chen-style Taichi will help students to understand the soft force and the importance of keeping dynamic balance, and will help train the whole body in order to engage the special Taichi force, which enables to conquer the hard force with soft force.
